1.4 SUBMITTALS

If 01 33 29 is not incorporated in the specifications, change reference to 01 33 29 in this section to instead say 01 57 19.01 20 SUPPLEMENTAL TEMPORARY ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS and ensure the additional sustainable acquisition language at paragraphs "Submittals" and "Sustainable Acquisition" of 01 57 19.01 20 is included within that section.

1.4 SUBMITTALS

As applicable based on project scope, include the following under "SD-01 Preconstruction Submittals" and "SD-11 Closeout Submittals":

Irrigation Controllers (WaterSense); S

Irrigation Spray Heads (WaterSense); S

2.2 IRRIGATION AND DRIP SPRINKLER HEADS

See note below at 2.5.

Spray heads falling under EPA WaterSense criteria must be WaterSense labeled. If such heads may be used, include the WaterSense related submittals at SD-01 and SD-11 and add the following here:

Provide products and documentation meeting the requirements at Section [01 33 29 SUSTAINABILITY REPORTING][01 57 19.01 20 SUPPLEMENTAL TEMPORARY ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS] paragraph WATER EFFICIENT PRODUCTS AND SERVICES. See https://sftool.gov/greenprocurement/green-products/6/landscaping-products/270/weather-sensor-based-irrigation-control-technologies/0?addon=False.

2.5 AUTOMATIC CONTROLLER [ELECTRICAL] [SOLAR] [BATTERY]

DoD Policy prohibits use of potable water to irrigate new landscaping other than for plant establishment. ASHRAE 189.1 Section 6.4.1, which applies via Army sustainable design requirements, limits establishment potable water irrigation to 70% of ET0 for turfgrass and 55% for other plantings. This would require some sort of evapotranspiration calculation and control, which suggests some sort of sensor being in place.

Controllers falling under EPA WaterSense criteria must be WaterSense labeled. If such controllers may be used, include the WaterSense related submittals at SD-01 and SD-11 and add the following here:

Provide products and documentation meeting the requirements at Section [01 33 29 SUSTAINABILITY REPORTING][01 57 19.01 20 SUPPLEMENTAL TEMPORARY ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS] paragraph WATER EFFICIENT PRODUCTS AND SERVICES. See https://sftool.gov/greenprocurement/green-products/6/landscaping-products/270/weather-sensor-based-irrigation-control-technologies/0?addon=False.
