Design Requirements
- Generator controller shall be capable to interface the generator set to other power system equipment and network management systems using standard industry network communications.
- New generator installation or replacement shall have raceway installed from generator to building EEDRS JACE Cabinet for future connection to remote monitoring system
- Manual Transfer Switch shall be 3-Way Switch equipped with interlocked breakers or controller to prevent cross-connecting power sources and color correct coded camlock receptacles allowing for safe isolated female connection points for load bank testing and portable generator male connection points.
- If Automatic Transfer Switch or Manual Transfer Switch to be utilized, a 3-Way Manual Transfer Switch must also be installed for safe annual testing requirements and for portable emergency generator connecting.
- Generator Emergency Shutdown shall be installed on the exterior of the generator enclosure per NEC Article 445.19.

Only the DPW AHJ and/or electrical inspectors as appointees by the AHJ can override the design standards and codes.
