1.3 SUBMITTALS |
If 01 33 29 is not incorporated in the specifications, change reference to 01 33 29 in this section to instead say 01 57 19.01 20 SUPPLEMENTAL TEMPORARY ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS and ensure the additional sustainable acquisition language at paragraphs "Submittals" and "Sustainable Acquisition" of 01 57 19.01 20 is included within that section. |
|
1.3 SUBMITTALS |
At SD-11, change the "Ozone Depleting Substances; S" submittal to the following and include it also under SD-01 Preconstruction Submittals: |
EPA SNAP-Approved Refrigerants; S |
1.3 SUBMITTALS |
Add the following at SD-01 Preconstruction Submittals and SD-11 Closeout Submittals: |
Energy Efficient Equipment; S |
2.2.2.1 ENERGY EFFICIENT EQUIPMENT |
[NOTE: In the column to the right, select 01 33 29 when it is incorporated into the specifications, otherwise select 01 57 19.01 20 and ensure it includes added sustainable acquisition language at paragraphs "Submittals" and "Sustainable Acquisition" of that section]
Revise as follows:
|
Provide equipment and documentation in conformance with
Section [01 33 29 SUSTAINABILITY REPORTING][01 57 19.01 20 SUPPLEMENTAL TEMPORARY ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS] paragraph ENERGY EFFICIENT PRODUCTS. See https://sftool.gov/greenprocurement/green-produc./hvacmechanic./a>, https://www.energystar.gov/products?s=mega, and https://www.energy.gov/eere/femp/search-energy-efficient-products for more information.

2.2.2.3 OZONE DEPELETING SUBSTANCES |
[NOTE: In the column to the right, select 01 33 29 when it is incorporated into the specifications, otherwise select 01 57 19.01 20 and ensure it includes added sustainable acquisition language at paragraphs "Submittals" and "Sustainable Acquisition" of that section]
Change the section and cited paragraph title to "EPA SNAP Approved Refrigerants" Revise content as follows:
|
Water source heat pump systems and ground source closed-loop heat pump systems must use only EPA Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) Program-approved refrigerants. Provide documentation in conformance with Section [01 33 29 SUSTAINABILITY REPORTING][01 57 19.01 20 SUPPLEMENTAL TEMPORARY ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS] paragraph OZONE DEPLETING SUBSTANCES AND REFRIGERANTS WITH HIGH GLOBAL WARMING POTENTIALS. See https://www.epa.gov/snap/snap-substitutes-sector for more information. |
2.4.1 REFRIGERANT AND OIL |
Revise as follows: |
Refrigerant must be EPA SNAP approved. Refrigerants must have number designations and safety classifications in accordance with ASHRAE 15 & 34. Refrigerants must meet the requirements of AHRI 700 as a minimum. Provide a complete charge of refrigerant for the installed system as recommended by the manufacturer. Lubricating oil must be of a type and grade recommended by the manufacturer for each compressor. Where color leak indicator dye is incorporated, charge must be in accordance with manufacturer's recommendation. All refrigerant operations shall comply with 40 CFR 82 Subpart F.
Copies of the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all hazardous materials shall be submitted in accordance with Section 01 57 19.01 20 SUPPLEMENTAL TEMPORARY ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS.
All ozone depleting substances are restricted on JBLM. Any use of such substances on JBLM requires submission of an exemption request form and prior written approval from the JBLM Pollution Prevention Program for actions on JBLM Lewis-Main, Lewis-North, McChord Field, or supported external facilities; or from JBLM-YTC Environmental Compliance for actions on JBLM-YTC. The exemption form can be obtained at ./doc_files/0226%20Restricted%20Chemical%20Exemption%20Request.pdf. In addition, any use of a class I ozone depleting substance requires Army Acquisition Executive approval and will be coordinated through the JBLM Air Program via the Contracting Officer or their representative.

Design Requirements
- Ductboard is not to be used.
- Filters: 2" thick, 30% efficient, pleated throw-away type are standard filters. Use other types only for unique situations.
- Filter Gauge: Provide filter gauges on filter banks. See DDC standards for requirement for separate device indicating pressure drop to control system.
- Heat Pumps: Provide with cold weather controls and back-up heat.
- AC Units: Provide with low ambient cooling capability.
Notes to Designers on Drawing Content
- Accessibility: Unit and maintainable components must be located so as to be accessible for maintenance. Units, coils, actuated components and similar items shall not be located more than 12 feet above the floor unless a catwalk, mezzanine or similar platform is designed at the units to allow for proper maintenance. Units, coils, actuated components and similar items above ceilings shall be accessible from properly sized access doors or removable ceiling panels and be no more than 3 feet above the ceiling.
- Removal: Allow adequate room for removal of equipment without removing portions of the building. Allow room for coil pull.
- Follow International Mechanical Code Section 306 for Access and Service Space.
