1.3 SUBMITTALS If 01 33 29 is not incorporated in the specifications, change reference to 01 33 29 in this section to instead say 01 57 19.01 20 SUPPLEMENTAL TEMPORARY ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS and ensure the additional sustainable acquisition language is included within that section.  
1.3   SUBMITTALS  At SD-11, include Indoor Air Quality submittals for any other finish material (e.g., those specified at 2.2.3.5) in order to demonstrate compliance with ASHRAE 189.1 Section 8.4.2 or 8.5.2. Also incorporate this, and any other applicable 'S' submittal at SD-11, under SD-01 Preconstruction Submittals so the Government can verify legal and policy compliance of proposed materials prior to work commencing.  
1.3 SUBMITTALS If specifying wood stain or sealant, ensure the following is incorporated at SD-01 and SD-11, either in this section or another referenced section under which the materials are addressed (e.g., 09 90 00). This is in addition to the applicable low VOC content submittal requirement. 1.4.1 CERTIFIED SUSTAINABLY HARVESTED WOOD Ensure materials are FSC certified, whenever practicable based on availability and cost.  SFI or other credible certification can be used when FSC certified products are not available.  
1.4.2 INDOOR AIR QUALITY CERTIFICATIONS Specify requirements and make selections to comply with ASHRAE Standard 189.1, section 8.4.2 or 8.5.2. If interior sealants, paints, or coatings will be used under this section, ensure their compliance with this standard as well by including appropriate certification and submittal requirements, either here or in a related section.  
2.1 PRODUCT SUSTAINABILITY CRITERIA Delete "For products in this section, where applicable and to extent allowed by
performance criteria, provide and document the following:" The language at 01 33 29/01 57 19.01 20 allows for exceptions based on performance criteria, as long as adequate justification per the applicable legal or policy requirement is provided on HJB Form 225.
 
2.1.1 RECYCLED CONTENT OF WOOD STRIP AND PLANK FLOORING NOTE: These requirements do not come from the EPA Comprehensive Procurement Guidelines. Thus, they are not typically addressed at the RECYCLED CONTENT paragraph of 01 33 29 or 01 57 19.01 20. If including for LEED credit attainment or some other reason, modify the language at 01 33 29 or 01 57 19.01 20 RECYCLED CONTENT paragraph to clarify and address basis for requirement.
 
However, federal recycled content requirements do apply to insulation. Thus, if insulation may be supplied, add "Insulation" to the section title.
 
If not including 01 33 29 in the specifications, change the reference to 01 57 19.01 20 SUPPLEMENTAL TEMPORARY ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS and ensure the added sustainable acquisition language is incorporated .
 
2.1.2 CERTIFIED SUSTAINABLY HARVESTED WOOD See note above at 1.4.1.

2.2 STRIP FLOORING Insert the following: Do not use virgin wood materials from endangered wood species unless the trade of such wood conforms to the requirements of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
2.4 RESILIENT PADS PVC is not a sustainable material. In accordance with federal sustainable design and acquisition guidance, do not specify PVC pads for projects on JBLM.
