09 51 00 ACOUSTICAL CEILINGS

Design Requirements
Standard units for use in acoustic ceilings on JBLM Lewis Main and Lewis North are 24" x 24" or 24" x 48" panels, NRC grade 50-60, STC range 35-39, white in color. Pattern, finish, color and edge treatment are optional, but options which would appreciably increase costs should be submitted to PM for approval. Suspension system shall be standard, white, exposed grid in standard width. Special consideration shall be given to installation of suspended acoustic ceiling systems in buildings on JBLM constructed before 1940. Specifically, installation of new drop ceilings in buildings in this age group shall not block transoms or any window lights, and steps shall be taken to minimize visibility of door transoms. If installation of suspended acoustic ceilings must block transoms or window lights the action must first be coordinated with the Washington State Historic Preservation Office through the Environmental and Natural Resources Division, Public Works, JBLM.
